= Serious accidents occuring on road is a matter of great concern for all of us. Not a day passes when we do not read reports about any serious road accidents. Almost everyone had been affeceted by such accidents at one time or the other, beacause or friend is somehow connected to such accidents. The number of death per year 10000 moter vehiles in india is 10 to 15 times more than that in developed countries. The number of moter vehicles is increasing day by day. Though it in as sign of emproving economy of the country, it is a bitter truth that it also adds to accidents on r0ads. Our inability to provide enough funds to widen the roads or to cunstrut new roads in propotion to rise in vehicles population also results in perpuating this state of affairs Statistics for the last few years show that there is a large number of accidents year by year. Several persons are manined for life . The producity of several others is redues due to temporary incapacity. Broadly 30 persent of people dying in road accidents are below the age of 30 years. This means the proportion of those in the prime of their life is quite large. It is clear that unless urgent remedical measures are taken, the occurrence of these of these accidents and resultant causalties will go on rising.
